Kushal Punjabi: There are not enough roles for senior actors on television.


While most of his contemporaries are grappling with the fact that opportunities for senior actors are slimming down on television, Kushal Punjabi who is seen playing the role of Shivji in Star Bharat’s popular show Kya Haal Mr. Paanchal is rather positive about the changing scenario.




The actor, who has returned to TV says, "I know that the roles for seasoned actors aren't as good as before. In fact, there are not enough roles for senior actors. However, it's a logical progression for young artistes to take charge as viewers want to watch fresh faces and the production houses and channels are complying with their demand. Unlike Bollywood, you can't show a 45-year-old play a college student on TV. Also, young artistes are roped in on a much lower budget. The best way to stay in the reckoning is by staying fit; I have been following that mantra religiously and that's the reason why even at my age, nobody offers me the role of a father."

H&M, Hennes & Mauritz AB, the Swedish international retailer, known for fashion and quality at the best price in a sustainable way opened doors to its first store in Indore at Treasure Island Next today. Over 350 eager shoppers and fashionistas queued up early in the morning to shop the new collections.




Gorav Puri, Country Controller at H&M India along with Area Manager Louis Coucke and Store Manager Vijay Kumar cut the red ribbon and welcomed the first customers in line, who received goodie bags and H&M surprises. Kailash Satyarthi’s Bharat Yatra-5 days & 55,000 people mobilised Kolar witnesses largest ever turnout and support for Yatra so far.



New Delhi,  September, 2017, Friday: The Bharat Yatra, launched by Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi on 11 September, entered the state of Karnataka, reachingKolar on 15th September, the fifth day of the 35-day long march across the country to build unprecedented awareness on combating child sexual abuse and trafficking.






Within five days of the launch, this march has already mobilized and has been joined by over 55,000 children, youth and working professionals, with the largest turnout in Kolar of nearly 10,000 people, who demanded for a stop to child sexual abuse, called for better laws in the country and pledged to protect the children of India from these heinous acts. The Yatra marchers called upon the youth of the country to step up and fight for children across India. They urged people of Kolar to strive towards building a safe childhood and a safe India.

Said Mr. Satayarthi, “It is not enough to declare a war against rape and sexual abuse. We must look towards concrete solutions and confidence building measures to ensure the security for our children. I urge all of the political community in the country to go back to school as an ordinary parent. See things on your own, feel the environment, question them. Schools are supposed to be an institution of learning and a haven for our children. It should not be a place of torture.”
Let us solve problems creatively, let us come forward and pledge to work and advocate a safe childhood for our children. I appeal to all parents to help instil a sense of trust and be friends with your children, so that they can speak fearlessly about any problem.Surakshit Bachpan-Surakshit Bharat has to be realized for our children, politically, economically and socially,” he added

Ever since its launch, Bharat Yatra has been drawing enormous support from citizens across India, including Amitabh Bachchan who tweeted to his fans to support the Yatra. Earlier, Union Minister for Shipping and Finance Mr Pon Radhakrishnan had flagged off the Yatra from Kanyakumari along with Mr Satyarthi. In Trivandrum, Kerala Chief Minister PinarayiVijayan assured whole hearted support from his government in eradicating the menace of child sexual abuse and trafficking.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent a personal letter to Kailash Satyarthi extending his support to the Yatra, which will cover 11000 kilometres across 22 States, including Tamil Nadu. Some of the key cities it covers include Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Guwahati, Bhopal, Jaipur, Srinagar among others.

At Kanniyakumari during the flag off Mr Satyarthi had declared, “I will not rest till children of this country are not safe. I am not going to stop fighting if the raping and abuse do not stop.  I cannot sleep in peace until we win our war against rape and abuse. This moral epidemic haunts our nation, and it is time we fight against it, together.”

Re-iterating his mission behind launching the Bharat Yatra, he said “Why am I marching? Because my children are being raped. I refuse to accept that eight children go missing and two are raped every hour. Each time if a single child is in danger, India is in danger. Bharat Yatra is to make India safe again for our children.”

Kailash Satyarthi has been campaigning for the freedom, safety and security for children across the globe for the past 36 years. His Nobel Peace Prize (2014) was for his continuous efforts and struggle for the rights children.

The Yatra is the launch of the three-year campaign against child rape and child sexual abuse which is aimed at increasing awareness and reporting of the cases, strengthening intuitional response including medical health and compensations, ensuring protection for victims and witnesses during trials and increasing convictions of child sexual abuse in a time bound manner.

Apne tarike se think healthy and be healthy.


There are two categories of people in the world, the first category consists of people who “live to eat” and the second category consists of “people who eat to live”. Well I consider myself lucky because I know I fall under the first category. Yes, you heard me right I live to eat. Being a hotelier I have a thing with the food. Along with cooking it in the kitchen I have learned well to consume it on the table. Jokes apart yes I am a foodie person and I live to eat. That’s that but the main problem that I encounter is my health. It’s a damn tough job to eat and to be healthy at once. In this fast moving world people don’t have time  eat healthy and to maintain their metabolism. We eat whenever we get time or whatever gets served on the platter and we don’t have the time to regulate our calories. These habits leafs to an unhealthy life full of disease. Diabetes, obesity, blood pressure are the common among them and these diseases are literally incurable. If you get hit by anyone of these life turns upside down. 

My life is no different in this matter. Although leaving the hotel industry has but a ban on my over eating but irregular eating habits and unhealthy eating habits has not changed. I run my own show now and being in the business I hardly get time to eat and sleep well and the worst part is that I don’t even get time to think and worry about it. It was my body that started giving me signs and showing me my limitations which forced me to think and re think on what should be done. I had a few discussions about it with my better half and she came up with some brilliant ideas that I think can be incorporated in my life style and for the first time I think that it can work. It was then I realized that why we men call our wives our better halves. She came up with few tips and I agreed to follow few of them, just few of them. 


First tip was to walk our baby girl to the play school every morning. Well this was a bit tough at first because her play school starts  7:30 am sharp and I wake up at 9 am sharp. You see the irony of my life? I have been told to wake up early since I left my job and got into business but I never bothered and here I am today. I walk my kid at 7:15 every morning Monday to Friday for a distance of half a kilometer from one side. So I walk 1 km every morning and believe me it feels good to be on my feet every morning. It helps me burn few calories for sure and I track my footsteps and calories burned everyday on my cellphone. 


The second tip was to walk  run should I say on the treadmill for half an hour every day whenever I get time be it morning, noon, evening or night. And to my surprise I am doing that too more or less.  This helps me to burn a lot of calories and my muscles loos fats too. 



Third tip was to try eating healthy and this was the tip I didn’t sign in for. I can increase my workout time but  can’t change the food I love. One can not just start liking slivers juice all a sudden instead of apple juice. So I started including roughage  my diet. I eat less because the salads fill up my tummy a bit which helps me consume less food. 

Along whit these my wife also switched to a light oil which gets absorbed less in the food and thus I eat healthy. I paly with my three year daughter and that is a big exercise in itself. You can't beat these children when it comes to energy they have a hidden power bank of energy. Health is the biggest wealth that I know now and maybe it’s hard to join a gym or workout every morning but there could be a few small things that can be incorporated to our daily life and that makes a huge difference. The talented actress ‘Reena Aggarwal’, who is seen essaying the role of Prema in Star Bharat’s (Life OK rebranded) recently launched show ‘Kya Haal Mr. Paanchal’ is leaving no stone unturned to get in to the skin of the character and is thus learning French for her role.
Yes, Reena is learning French from a tutor as most of her dialogues are in French. Every day, a French tutor comes to the sets to teach her and help her with the lines and guide her.




When we asked Reena about the same, she said “When makers informed me about learning French, I was quite excited. A tutor comes to the sets every day to guide me. The training is helping me immensely with my dialogues delivery. I am enjoying the experience and I feel lucky to be a part of the show”.

Yes, Rieky who plays the role of Krish is managing shoot and his studies together. In real life, this 8 year old balances acting and studies perfectly. While he leaves no stone unturned to deliver a perfect shot every time, he also ensures that his studies are not affected by shooting schedules. Every day he attends his school in the morning and shoots in the evening.  Also, after each shot, he takes time out for a quick revision of whatever he learnt at school that day.






When we asked Rieky about the same, he said “Yes, I go to school in the morning and then come on the set. For me, the show and my education, both are equally important and I am trying my best to balance the two. The good thing is that the team out here is very supportive. I am lucky to be able to manage both.”

Kanika Kapoor's surprise moment on the sets of Om Shanti Om.


The singing sensation who set the charts on fire with Babydoll, Kanika Kapoor, has debuted on Indian television as a judge on Star Bharat’s (Life OK – Rebranded) most talked about reality show Om Shanti Om. The award-winning singer was astonished to see her kids and parents on the sets. They flew all the way from London to surprise her.


Talking to Kanika about the same she shares, “Shooting for Om Shanti Om has been an exciting, thrilling as well as challenging experience as I have been juggling the shoots with my singing commitments. This had left me with literally no sleep and no time to breathe. Family time is what I needed, to meet my parents and hug my kids, however, it seemed like a distant dream as there was so much going on. Someone surely must have read my mind as the very next day, my children and most understanding parents surprised me on the sets of Om Shanti Om and this was surely a huge highlight for me. Bhumika Gurung’s look inspired from Rani Mukherjee’s in ‘Bunty Aur Babli’.



Star Bharat’s upcoming show Nimki Mukhiya is already creating excitement amongst the viewers because of its unique plot. The show marks the journey of Nimki played by debutant actress, Bhumika Gurung. My dear children of India, sisters, brothers and all dignitaries present, let us march together, let us march for safety of children, let us assemble for righteousness. Let us flag off the Bharat Yatra.


Every day the waves of the ocean, the sun, the trees of Kanniyakumari, all assemble here to pray for India. Today the waves of the ocean are marching with us to free India from child sexual abuse, exploitation and trafficking. We are not ready to accept, children are raped. We refuse to accept India as a country where children are abused.
Children are not safe in schools, at home, at the playgrounds. India is a land of saints and saviours. Those who are marching for the children, represent these saviours and I hope you take the same pledge.
This is the war for making India safe. 'Asothama satgamaya, thamasoma jyotir gamaya' (from ignorance, lead me to truth; from darkness lead me to light). This march is a march from darkness to light, from fear to freedom, from shame to holding your heads up towards dignity.
If even one child is in danger, India is in danger. I resolve today to make India safe. Young marchers, we are waging war against exploitation of children and you are the warriors and every step you take will be written about in gold letters.



Kanniyakumari is a very important place for us, because the inspiration for many of us, Swami Vivekananda, though he wasn’t born here, we are in the shadow of the rock.
Your voice is the voice of the thousands of parents who have suffered, your voice is for those victims who have gone through trauma. Let us march from silence to sound. Let us March.

Artist Originals (AO) launches its latest pop track Bom Diggy!



New- Delhi, August 25, 2017- Saavn has exclusively launched Bom Diggy, an upbeat Punjabi-English song which is a collaboration between desi artists Zack Knight and Jasmin Walia. Ankit Gera and Yukti Kapoor’s ode to Sanjay Dutt-Madhuri Dixit.



&TV’s popular fiction show, Agnifera has kept its viewers entertained with emotional drama and surprising twists and turns. The tables between the couple – Anurag (Ankit Gera) and Ragini (Yukti Kapoor) seem to be continuously turning as one seems to fall out of love and the other in. This love-hate relationship between Anurag and Ragini has been the spice of the show and kept viewers hooked onto the television screen.

Grandparents the biggest blessing of childhood.

"Lucky are those who are blessed with the love and care of grandparents".

We all love our childhood and never the less if given a chance we would do anything to live it again. The carelessness attitude, no worries of bitter tomorrow, no competition and nothing to worry you. You don’t even have to love anyone to be loved back, all you have to do is to be yourself. Anyways childhood is not what I am here to talk , instead I am here to talk about the facts that makes the childhood special. There are so many things that make our childhood special but today we are going to talk about the most unique one, “Grandparents”.

Everyone of you out their who have been lucky to have grandparents must know what I am talking about. Well for me my grandparents were the best gift of the God. They are someone in whose eyes you could be never wrong or naughty. Everything that you do is forgivable and forgettable to them (your mischievs and naughtiness). They are the one along with your parents who teaches you the most valuable lessons of life and guide you to the right path.


My grandfather was a police officers and a damn good one. I still hear his stories from others. My grandmother was a homemaker and this duo was my life. I don’t remember a day in my childhood that I was loved less by them. I was so found of my grandmother (maa) that I used to sleep with her. Sleeping without her was the worst punishment that I could have been given. She was the one closest to me.


My grandfather was the second most important person in my life well I am blessed he still is. He is like my own little jinni with never-ending wish granting power. I don’t have even a glimpse of the past when my wishes has not been fulfilled. His love toward me was and is unconditional. The best part of the parents or grandparents love is that it is not selfish and it’s pure. I never understood this unconditional love to be honest although I have been lucky like I told you.


I still have my grandfather like I told although I lost maa when I was in standard 6 and that feeling was painful. I can’t give anything to my grandfather I know that very well but this grandparent's day I want to make him feel special like he has always done for me. I want to thank him for everything that he and maa has given me. They have taken me places and have traveled with me and now it’s my turn. I want to take my grandfather to Srilanka. He likes the sea and likes to explore, share and wander. He has been to many places in India so I think Srilanka is going to be good for us. I keep him taking places which I know he would love to visit. Like we went for paragliding last month which was an entire new experience for him and the smile on his face said that he enjoyed it. I just want to recreate a few good memories that he has given me and I know reliving few of them makes him happy.




Like I said before I have not cracked this grandparent’s love thing yet I might have a clue. I have been a father lately and I see some very unexpected and drastic changes in my parents both my mom and dad. My mom has been a while different lady that I knew since last 27 years. Grandparents are the best thing that a child has to make his childhood worth living every single bit and I am really blessed to be one among such child. #Lovejatao is what they have taught me and I wish I could be a great grandfather like one I have for myself.

Avdeep Sindhu is the Angry Young Man of Half Marriage.





Avdeep Sindhu who will be soon seen essaying the role of Suryaprakash on &TV’s new offering Half Marriage, has got a new name for himself. The other cast and crew of the show often address him as the Angry Young Man of Half Marriage. And the reason for all his anger is nothing but a scene where he had to break a glass. The scene which was supposed to showcase Avdeep’s character Suryaprakash’s in aggression, resulted into giving him a new name!



A source close to set revealed, “Avdeep plays the character of Suryaprakash who is very hot headed and short tempered. For one of the scene, Avdeep had to showcase his anger on screen by throwing a glass. While the shot was perfect but Avdeep continued further as he was not satisfied with the shot. Looking at the aggression with which he was enacting the scene everyone got scared of him. Later after the scene was over, he got back to his jovial self but the crew has labelled him as the Angry Young Man.”

Avdeep will be seen in the role of the over controlling brother, Suryaprakash. He is a hot headed rich brat with a lot of temper who doesn’t mind misusing his father’s power for his personal benefit.

Renowned comedian, Navin Prabhakar roped in for &TV’s Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain.




One of India’s famed Comedian Navin Prabhakar, most known for his slang ‘Pehchaan Kaun’ will soon be a part of & TV’s popular sitcom ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain’. Navin has already made a good name for him in the industry and has also been a part of many Bollywood movies like Bombay to Goa, Khiladi 786 and Phata Poster Nikhla Hero. Navin Prabhakar as Pramod Pralay Jhangirabadi will be playing the role of a ‘Kavi’ and will be seen as a ‘Kavi Maharaj’ on the show.
Navin Prabhakhar said. “I am extremely happy to be a part of a show like ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain’ which is a complete entertainment package. My role in this show is of a ‘Kavi’ who has recently become famous and who keeps coming up with hilarious poetries to which I feel the viewers won't be able to resist laughing. To address this mindset head on in a light and humorous manner, Star Bharat (Life OK – rebranded) in association with Optimystix brings ‘Kya Haal Mr. Paanchal’, a rib-tickling sitcom starring Kanchan Gupta, as the over-demanding Saas and Manindar Singh as the compliant son.
The show follows the consequences that a mother faces when her desperate prayer for the perfect bride with all 5 qualities finally gets answered but with a strange twist. The sitcom revolves around a saas’ plight, when, instead of getting 1 bride with 5 qualities she gets 5 bahus with 1 quality each. The bizarre situation makes for a series of uproarious events, reminding us that we should always be careful of what we wish for! The show is a sitcom which conveys a powerful message that when you want more, it doesn’t always turn out to be good. The show highlights the fact that greed for perfection is bad and one should not have unrealistic expectations from their daughters-in-law.

&TV’s latest offering Comedy Dangal is making viewers stay hooked onto it ever since its launch. Bharti Singh - Anu Malik along with their teams are literally making their viewers roll with laughter with fresh jokes and punch lines. Recently Bollywood’s dapper hunk Farhan Akhtar made his way to the show, only to take charge of viewer’s laughter therapy. Anu Malik, who is infamous for creating impromptu songs created a unique tune using a popular Hindi tongue twister “Uuth Ucha, Uche Uth ki Puch Uchi”
Source set from the set revealed, “Anu Malik created a song on the spot and asked Farhan to sing it to him. Being a sport, Farhan immediately obliged and sang the song that was made out of a popular tongue twister ‘Uuth Ucha, Uche Uth ki Puch Uchi’. While audience thought it was tough row to hoe, Farhan surprised them adding his own unique style singing the tongue twister within few seconds.”
The ‘Lucknow Central’ actor will be seen on the show along with model turned actress and his co-star, Diana Penty.

Satyajit Sharma’s character in Half Marriage inspired by Amitabh Bachchan from Sarkar?


 &TV’s upcoming drama, Half Marriage, will see actor Satyajit Sharma in the role of a powerful politician - Vanraj Kanojia. However, his mannerisms and the body language definitely reminds one of Subhash Nagre essayed by Amitabh Bachchan in the Blockbuster movie Sarkar. 

Known as Sahibji to the masses, Vanraj has always thought of himself before anything else. He is conniving and ruthless when it comes to his political agenda. However, things take a turn when his daughter Chandni falls prey to one of his political strategies and is married to an honest and righteous man, Arjun.

Produced by Kavita Barjatya and Kushik Ghatak of Conscious Dreams, Half Marriage, set in Kanpur, traces the story of two individuals, Chandni and Arjun, who are married to each other under political influence. While the couple can’t stand each other, they can’t walk away from the marriage as well.

~One of a kind activation over a period of 6 days engaged over 16, 00,000 consumers across Hindi speaking markets~

Mumbai, September , 2017– Star Bharat (Life OK – rebranded) with its philosophy of, "Bhula De Darr, Kuchh Alag Kar" is bringing to us stories that will encourage one to go beyond their fears to achieve their goals. One such story that was launched on 28th of August– “Nimki Mukhiya” traces the journey of a slightly neurotic, highly opinionated, gregarious girl who by a twist of fate is made the first woman mukhiya candidate of her village.



Nimki is unlike any other Hindi serial female protagonist hence, the marketing initiative taken to promote this show too was unique.

The entire 360-degree marketing campaign for this show was conceptualized and executed to mimic a political campaign. Just as all political campaigns have a strong on-ground leg, Star Bharat (Life OK – rebranded) launched an extensive on ground activation in over 15 cities and towns across Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh from 28th of August, 2017 to 2nd September, 2017.

The political campaign was flagged off in Lucknow by Nimki on 26th of August. A political styled press conference was held in her “party’s war room” where-in she spoke to the media about her political ideologies and unveiled her manifesto for the first time. Later, in line with her belief, “Ladki ka first duty hai ooka beauty!” - She spoke to journalists while getting beauty treatments done at Lucknow’s top salon, Stylz Beauty Salon. She concluded this off beat press conference by urging everyone to show support for her cause and keeping an eye out for her on ground campaign.

Starting 28th of august, fleet of colorful autos, custom designed to reflect Nimki’s quirky personality hit the streets. For a period of 5 days, the autos blared Nimki’s quirky political slogans. For the first time ever for a Hindi show– door-to-door political styled campaigning was done where her manifesto was distributed and viewers were requested to tune in to Star Bharat (Life OK – rebranded) at 8:30 PM to show their support for Nimki. Additionally, an army of Nimki’s “party workers” set out and visited stores, markets, places of interests and heritage sites to distribute her manifesto and to talk about Nimki’s appeal and her unique political agenda.



To amplify her political campaigning, radio stations across MP and UP also played Nimki’s slogans.

This extensive outreach concluded with Nimki’s rally in Bhopal on the 2nd. She first visited a radio station to talk at length about her political agenda. From there on, like any politician worth their salt, she set out on a rally in a quirky jeep, visited various hotspots of the city and interacted with the citizens.



After talking to the media in Bhopal, Nimki went on to do yet another press conference in Indore. After all, the life of an aspiring politician is never relaxing! Inthe short period of 6 days, over 3, 37,500 houses were visited, 8, 77,000 pamphlets were distributed and over 16, 00,000 consumers were engaged.




With such an innovative and extensive marketing initiative, the show is sure to catch attention and endear this eccentric politician to all her viewers.
